What will you learn in the course?

This Fall Intensive Training course will focus on four foundational Areas of Study;

Yoga Asana, Yoga Philosophy, Meditation and Psychological Shadow Work.

Yoga Asana area of study will focus on exploring the physical postures of Yoga by learning how to develop functional patterns of movement and posture that will support and inform a healthy and therapeutic exploration of the postures through physiological reconditioning and alignment with integrity.

The Philosophy portion of this training will explore the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali from a Mahayana Buddhist perspective. We will offer a thorough examination of the root text referencing the original Sanskrit. New to this course will be an exploration of the Yoga Sutras as they have been understood through history. The Psychological Shadow Work portion will facilitate the development of tools to explore the unconscious mind that will allow us to create loving and nurturing resources within ourselves that will be able to hold loving and compassionate space for ourselves and others. (This portion of the training is not meant to be a substitute for work with a professional psychologist.)

The Meditation portion will emphasize developing the tools to cultivate a stable and healthy meditation practice. We will explore traditional meditation techniques as well as explore what modern neuroscience has to say about how meditation works to transform our minds. (This portion of the course is offered as the optional Meditation Module on Mondays.)
