Senior Yoga at Eight Treasures Yoga.

Eight Treasures Yoga is happy to announce our Senior Yoga course starting this Spring.

Practicing Yoga as we age can help to develop and maintain strength, balance, flexibility and stamina. These are crucial abilities to maintain in order to continue to enjoy a beautiful quality of life as we age.

So if you or someone you love could benefit from maintaining and even increasing their vitality, share the gift of yoga today.

Is Senior Yoga right for me?

If You have tried other yoga classes and felt that they were too fast passed or that you would be more comfortable practicing yoga with people who are closer to you in age, then this is the right class for you.

Senor Yoga focuses on developing and maintaining four crucial factors that contribute to our quality of life. These four factors are:
  1. Strength: As we age it is typical to lose some muscle mass and strength. The good news is that exercise can help us to maintain and even increase our muscle mass and strength.
  2. Balance: It is natural to lose some of our sense of balance as we age and this can be a real problem, because falls due to loss of balance are responsible for a large number of hospitalizations for older people. The good news is that by practicing balancing we can become better at it and therefore reduce a common risk for seniors.
  3. Flexibility: A stiff body does not need to be an inevitable part of aging. Yoga can help to maintain and increase flexibility. When we are more flexible, movement becomes more fun and we are likely to engage in health supporting movement activities even when we are not in yoga class.
  4. Stamina: As we practice moving on a regular basis we will also find that we can have an increase in our stamina which can greatly increase our capacity to participate in all of the activities that we enjoy in life.

Senior Yoga at Eight Treasures Yoga has been specifically designed to support the development of all four of these factors. One of the most important factors in supporting a new habit for healthy living is the possibility of joining with other people who are cultivating the same habit. At Eight Treasures you will find a supportive and non-competitive community of Yogis.
